Carlton D. Clyburn, Jr., is a lifelong Highland Park resident, neighbor, father, son, and civil servant. Carlton has worked for the City of Highland Park for over ten years in various capacities and presently serves as the City Council President/Mayor Pro Tem. He holds a master’s degree in Project Management, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Marketing), and a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Additionally, Carlton has professional certification as a Life Skills Coach and Career Counseling Coach; Carlton is process-driven, analytically sharp, and results-oriented.
Carlton has always served his community. He sat on the Board of Directors for George Washington Carver Academy, Highland Park Jets (youth football and cheer team), Silverback Academy (youth wrestling team), The Avalon Village, My Brother's Keeper of Wayne County, Inc. (Chair/Founding Member), and Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency (WMCAA).
He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Highland Park Business Association. These organizations have a mission that directly relates to Carlton's passions that revolve around four pillars — Community Economic Development, Youth Outreach, Age-Friendly Community for our Seniors, and the Route to a Smart City.
